How did Carthage prepare you?
“I was exposed to numerous business professionals who were able to share valuable business insights and practices. Specifically, in the master’s program, the professors had successful careers in various industries such as retail, product management, healthcare, and more. I gained the knowledge and skills to succeed in a professional environment.”
Why did you choose Carthage?
“I chose Carthage because I was drawn to the close-knit community, the beautiful campus, and the strong focus on student support. I was passionate about continuing my soccer career, and Carthage provided me with top-tier resources as an athlete and a student. The Athletics Department cares about each team and athlete at Carthage and will go to great lengths to have student-athletes succeed in all areas of life. As a student, I wanted a place where I wouldn’t just be a number and could build real relationships with professors and peers. Carthage offered the right mix of athletic excellence, academic challenge, personal growth, and professional development opportunities.”
What opportunities were made possible because of your Carthage experience?
“Carthage opened the door to so many opportunities. Past internships, local jobs in Kenosha, networking events, and hands-on learning experiences helped me explore different career paths. I gained real-world skills, built a professional network, and developed the confidence to step into my role at Aon.”
What Carthage professors played a part in your success and how?
“Several professors played a meaningful role in my journey at Carthage. Professor Carter Rockhill, whom I have been fortunate enough to have as a professor for multiple classes, was instrumental in my development at Carthage. He is an individual who is passionate about student success and the material he teaches. His passion and enthusiasm enticed me to enroll in the master’s program at Carthage. Other professors include Breanne McGuire and Lisa Franklin, who demonstrated kindness and relentless support in the classroom. Professors Neil Finnie and Andreu Gual Falco provided professional guidance while creating an enjoyable working environment. These professors’ mentorship, encouragement, and high expectations pushed me to grow academically and personally.”
What's your favorite Carthage memory?
“One of my favorite memories from Carthage was when the entire cohort traveled to Barcelona for our final capstone project. For this 10-day trip, we worked as consultants for local businesses. This provided valuable experience working in a professional environment alongside peers. While abroad, our group also soaked up the unique culture and community in the city. We toured the beautiful area, filled with breathtaking architecture, enjoyed local cuisine, and became immersed in the culture by attending a Flamenco show and supporting the local club, FC Barcelona. It was an excellent way to conclude my career at Carthage.”
Tips for current Carthage students?
“Take advantage of every opportunity Carthage offers: internships, leadership roles, or connecting with professors. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek guidance; people genuinely want to help you succeed. Carthage has opportunities to grow as a student, professional, and person. Lean into all the opportunities the College and community have to offer in the short amount of time you have in college.”
