Introducing the 911Cellular Emergency Notification System
Carthage implemented a new emergency notification system, 911Cellular, as part of the ongoing effort to provide a safe and secure environment for everyone on campus.
The 911Cellular system provides faster response times and improved two-way communication between Public Safety officers and the campus community.
“Safety is our top priority,” says Mike Polzin, director of Public Safety. “The 911Cellular mass alert system allows us to reach Carthage community members immediately with information and provide direction during critical incidents.”
Campus Shield App
Emergency notifications will automatically be sent to students, faculty, and staff using the contact information provided in Workday. Further, flyers on campus will provide information and QR codes so students, faculty, and staff can download the Campus Shield app and sign in with their Carthage email for access.
- Instant safety notifications
- The ability to record and share video with officers during incidents
- A way to submit anonymous tips
- A virtual escort service to ensure you reach your destinations safely
Parents and family members can receive non-emergency campus updates by texting “Family” to 58843.
Safety Drills
Public Safety conducts emergency notification tests each semester. The first campus-wide test of 911Cellular will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29.
