SURE student Angelina Gersch ’27 awarded oral abstract presentation

Angelina Gersch ’27, mentored by Professor Laura Swoboda, was awarded an oral abstract for the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care in Las Vegas in Sept. 2025.

The abstract is based on Angelina’s SURE project: “Save a Limb, Save a Life: Screening in Communities With High Non-Traumatic Amputation Risk.”

Both abstracts on the community screenings and the “time out before amputation” initiatives were among the top screening abstracts, competing in a significantly competitive pool.

Two posters will also be presented at the conference as well.
