Some of the students who have used Luther’s Lunchbox in this academic year have written notes of thanks to the community members, church, alumni, and friends of the College whose donations keep the shelves filled. Read their messages below.

“As a commuter student with no meal plan, Luther’s Lunchbox is a lifesaver. Thank you.”

“I am blessed and grateful for Luther’s Lunchbox because it helps me to stay fueled up when I can’t afford food and allows me to work and stay longer on campus as a commuter.”

“The Ehrler Hospitality Center and the Lunchbox…has given me a place to stay between classes. As a commuter who travels 30-45 minutes daily to get my education, this place has helped me through days I have forgotten my lunch or an umbrella. It’s also a good place to meet others and gain relationships while in college. Thanks to those who donate.”

“[Luther’s Lunchbox helps students when they are out of meal swipes and Birdie Bucks to still be able to eat. It’s also a great place when I don’t have time between classes to eat. I can grab snacks and hygiene products.”

“I really appreciate Luther’s Lunchbox for its open support of hungry students. Sometimes it’s just needing a snack or sometimes it’s needing to ration meals without knowing where you’ll get your next one. Regardless, you can’t learn while hungry. Luther’s Lunchbox is a particularly nice element of my experience as a commuter, when I would otherwise need to pay for food on campus.”

“It’s very helpful to grab a quick snack before class or even grab a meal when you run out of meal swipes in the cafeteria. Thank you!”

“Luther’s is a great place to be able to sit and be peaceful. I am a commuter, and it’s hard to get food consistently, so thank you very much.”
