Chemistry students Iman Deanparvar ’25 and Kaleigh Leach ’25, and alumni Jack DeSalvo ’23 and Lucus Schneider ’23 coauthored a paper: “Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study of Stabilizer Association with the Val122Ile Transthyretin Variant,” which recently appeared in the journal Biophysica.

Their research used computer simulations to study how small molecules interacted with a protein associated with a genetic type of heart disease. Iman and Jack worked during Carthage’s SURE program. The students’ research was supported by the National Science Foundation.
