Business and Professional Coalition: Discussion on housing and equity development Feb. 27
Local development leaders will discuss new ways to expand housing access and equity in southeastern Wisconsin during the Carthage Business and Professional Coalition event: “Equity and Housing Development.”
The panel discussion and luncheon takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Todd Wehr Center.
There is no admission charge, but advance registration is required due to limited seating.
Three panelists are scheduled to take part:
- S.R. Mills is the CEO of Bear Property Development, a family of companies involved in the acquisition, development, construction, and management of residential, industrial, commercial, and master-planned communities.
- Tim Casey is the director of development for the City of Kenosha. His team oversees planning and development for the former Chrysler site, as well as Uptown, Downtown, and the Interstate 94 corridor.
- Jeff Towne is the community and economic development officer for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA). He has more than 20 years of local and state experience in planning, economic development, and housing.
Professor Ron Cronovich will serve as the moderator. His research findings about the causes and effects of wealth inequality will shed light on the impact the housing crisis has on economic stability.
The Business and Professional Coalition is a network of regional civic, business, and professional leaders who have met regularly at Carthage for nearly 30 years. They welcome guest speakers to discuss topics that aim to further the economic growth of the region.
