Rachel Page ’10, M.M. ’22 is an international performer, composer, and educator based in Chicago. She holds a master’s degree in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy with a concentration in Business Design and Innovation and has run her own voice studio since 2014.
Driven to create original work, she has written and performed multiple one-woman shows but is most proud of “Someone You Know” — a new musical she created in 2016 that has undergone readings, workshops, and an educational collaboration with Eolia Conservatory in Barcelona, Spain.
Prof. Page has performed with The Second City Chicago aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines and sung with in the cabaret duo Side by Side. She developed an original curriculum blending vocal technique with musical theatre structure in improvised settings, which she introduced at iO Chicago and now teaches privately.
Favorite stage roles include the Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” Mrs. Banks in “Mary Poppins,” and Gertrude in “Seussical the Musical.” She has originated roles in two new musicals, including the Jeff-nominated “Story of a Story,” and directed and music directed shows such as “Into the Woods,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Les Misérables,” and “Crazy for You.”
Prof. Page performed in “China” with Carthage College as an educational theatre tour and later became the first program director at Kwan Kwan Music Theatre School in Jinan, where she directed and devised youth musicals.
She firmly believes that voice lessons are life lessons, and regardless of origin, music connects us all. She is grateful to be able to create music wherever and whenever she can. If she isn’t at the piano, she can be found planning her next international trip, trying to learn a new skill, or improvising dumb songs with her very talented husband.
