Grace Kirklazar
Grace Kirklazar joined Carthage as the Theatre Department’s technical director, bringing with her a strong foundation in scenic construction, sound design, and props. She earned her BFA of Theatre Production from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts in 2020, where she led peer teams in the construction of sets as a studio student.
Ms. Kirklazar has a background heavily steeped in the arts, starting as a vocalist and dancer at a young age and finding her way into the acting world through First Stage’s camps and classes. Her interest in production began in high school, where she worked under a professional carpenter to begin learning scenic construction. Through experiences in high school and in college at Concordia University Chicago, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and working for the Local IATSE, Ms. Kirklazar has worked in every area of the theatre with hands-on experience in scenic, sound, props, painting, lighting, makeup, costuming, stage management, and front of house.
In her free time, Ms. Kirklazar enjoys painting, playing video games on the PCs that she’s built, gardening, and climbing. She also has a huge soft spot for animals and has worked as a foster through various Milwaukee-area cat rescues and has rehabilitated a variety of reptiles and amphibians.
She is very excited to be at Carthage and hopes to help students explore and excel in the Theatre Department!
