Attending a college with a strong accounting program was a top priority for Alina Juszczyk ’28. At Carthage, she not only found the right academic fit, but also gained valuable insight into what it means to be an accountant beyond the classroom. Through the Carthage’s career development center, The Aspire Program, Alina had the opportunity to take a course to help her prepare for the Certified Public Accountant exam, learn how to apply to jobs and internships, gain interview tips, and understand the difference between a private or public accountant. “It was awesome and has prepared me for all things accounting,” she said.

Why Carthage?
“When starting my college search, I made a list of the top three things I was looking for in a college, including: the college being located in a big city, having a great accounting program, and being near or on the water.”
Faculty mentors
“Professor Jennifer Clark has been fantastic! She genuinely cares for her students and has so much passion for economics. Also, she gives out life lessons during her classes, which students are encouraged to write down. These lessons can be as simple as discussing unemployment rates or harder subjects like explaining how to ask for a raise at your job. These lessons have helped prepare me for the real world by covering topics not usually discussed and getting amazing advice on how to handle them.”
Campus involvement
“I am the treasurer of the Spirit Team and a member of the cheer team, Chi Omega, and the Plant Club. These extracurricular involvements have allowed me to grow at Carthage. Through the friends I have made in these organizations and the work I have been asked to do, I have gained communication and time management skills.”
Favorite memory
“Some of my favorite Carthage moments and memories would be cheering at the CCIW Men’s Basketball Finals, being initiated into Chi Omega, participating in monthly Carthage Activities Board’s bingo nights, and enjoying beach days with my friends. All these big or small moments made me feel so connected at Carthage.”
