“I value the opportunity to learn in an environment where professors know your name and where meaningful one-on-one interactions are part of the everyday experience.”

Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage because it offers the kind of close-knit academic environment I sought. I was also drawn to the College’s commitment to experiential education, including J-Term study tours, which provide a unique chance to apply learning in real-world settings.”

Favorite class

“My favorite class at Carthage so far has been Japanese. The course has a strong sense of community because the small class size makes it easy to get to know everyone, and I’ve made some great friends through it. What stands out most is how supportive the professor and the Target Language Experts are — they make learning the language fun and approachable. They genuinely care about each student’s progress.”

Campus involvement

“I am in the Japanese Club — it’s a great way to explore Japanese culture outside the classroom. It’s a fun and welcoming group that brings students together for events, and it is also a great community to make new friends who share similar interests.”

Best study tip

“My best study tip is to use the Writing Center and the Office of Peer Tutoring here at Carthage. The tutors and the writing fellows do a great job helping you study and helping you write your essay or even understand your class readings.”

Best tip for making friends

“The best way to make friends is by going to events and clubs. We have involvement fairs that let you explore clubs and provide a good opportunity to meet new people. There are events held at Carthage all the time that can help you make friends!”

Biggest surprise

“The biggest surprise so far is how friendly and diverse everyone is at Carthage. I have met so many people from different countries, backgrounds, etc.”
