Faculty mentors
“The Carthage mathematics faculty are amazing! I’ve learned so much from them, and their advice has been incredibly helpful. They’ve also helped me build confidence in my career field.”
Favorite class
“My favorite class has been Real Analysis with Professor Mark Snavely. I liked how we started the class by proving things we learned in grade school, and then used those equations to build up to more complex proofs. It really helped me understand the deeper structure of math.”
Unique opportunities
“I participated in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience program at Carthage. I worked on a mathematics research project titled ‘Patterns in Political Polarization’ with two other students and two faculty advisors. Carthage paid for our trip to Tampa, Florida to present our poster at MAA MathFest.”
Internships or campus employment
“I’m a research intern for USA Football, and I absolutely love it! As an athlete, working in sports is especially rewarding, and I can definitely see myself staying in this area of data science for a while.”
Favorite spot on campus
“My favorite spot on campus is the math lab! In between classes, I like to spend time there doing homework or just taking a break.”
Favorite memory
“I enjoy Homecoming at Carthage. My family always visits, and we tailgate with the basketball team and their families before watching the football game.”
Best study tip
“Go to office hours! Your professors want to help you succeed, so don’t be afraid to ask them for help.”
Best tip for making friends
“The best way to make friends at Carthage is to get involved right from the start! I made most of my friends by attending orientation events during the first week of school.”
