Carthage is hosting conference championships in track and field and men’s basketball. Large crowds are expected on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1.

The Office of Public Safety will make traffic adjustments and parking requests to accommodate scheduled events. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you can expect:

Parking

  • South Lower Parking Lot: The South Lower Parking Lot will reach capacity Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1. Carthage faculty and staff should use the North Lots these days (which will start to clear by Friday afternoon).
  • South Lower Lot permit holders (students): If you move your vehicle, be prepared that you may not find a spot when you return.
  • Special permit parking: If you hold an experiential, temporary athletic, or a grad assistant permit, you must park in the 14th Avenue Lot on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1. Violators will be cited, and permits may be forfeited.

Traffic

  • Campus Drive: Campus Drive will be one-way, heading south from the T-intersection (South Upper Lot) through the south entrance.
  • Exiting vehicles: Vehicles leaving 15-minute parking spots outside of the Campbell Student Union and The Oaks Circle must exit south on Campus Drive.
  • Parking/stopping restrictions: Parking and/or stopping will be prohibited on Campus Drive.

Shuttles

  • Firebird shuttles: The Carthage Firebird Shuttles will run south on Campus Drive and make regularly scheduled stops at 35th Street, 14th Avenue, Tennis Center, and Pike River lots.
  • Express services: Express shuttle services will run between the North Lots and the TARC.
