All Stories

Mark your calendars for this year’s Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Workshop, which will be held virtually over three days:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 20: 1-3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 21: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 22: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
About the workshop

This three-day workshop is the required means by which faculty become certified to teach Writing Intensive (WI) and Written Communication (WC) courses such as Intellectual Foundations.

The WAC Workshop series provides faculty with support on topics ranging from planning a WI/WC course to responding to student writing. Upon completion of the three-day series, each first-time participant will receive a $250 stipend and will be eligible to teach WI and WC courses. Those who have attended in the past are welcome to participate again, though without receiving a stipend.

Keynote speaker

The training will feature a keynote workshop at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 led by Linda B. Nilson, author of such publications as “Teaching At Its Best” (now in its fifth edition) and “Infusing Critical Thinking Into Your Course” (2021). All faculty are warmly invited to attend!

RSVP to attend

If you plan to attend the full workshop series, please RSVP by Monday, Aug. 12. An RSVP for Tuesday’s keynote is not required, but is requested to assist in our planning.
