Teaching Tidbits from our Distinguished Teaching Award Winners

Session 1: Alternative Assessments — Presented by Ed Kawakami

As we enter the second half of the semester, it will be helpful to learn about innovative and varied ways to assess our students. Come to this session to learn about and share ideas around creating alternative assessments.

Session 2: Creating Community in our Classrooms — Presented by Kim Instenes

With the semester winding down, we will look ahead to January and/or spring term as we explore ways to create a sense of belonging and community in our future classes.

Promotion and Tenure Session

Presented by Matt Borden, Chair of the P & T Committee
4-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, Zoom
Faculty who are approaching tenure, applying for a promotion, or considering a sabbatical will gain insights and information about the processes involved for each of these important milestones.

Department Chairs/Program Directors Leadership Session

Mentoring Early-Career Faculty — Presented by Nina Weisling
12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, TBD
Join Nina Weisling, co-author of “Responsive Mentoring: Supporting the Teachers all Students Deserve” (2020) who will facilitate discussions with department chairs/program directors about ways to support early-career colleagues and provide meaningful feedback/coaching through various methods. A Zoom link will be sent to department chairs and program directors in a separate email.
